Caraffa Bastione (6 Athinas Avenue, Old Nicosia) — Located in the old town of Nicosia, on either side of three of the remaining arches of the 18th Aqueduct and next to the Famagusta Gate (one of the three Gates of the 16th Venetian Walls), this restaurant has a Mediterranean menu that features familiar dishes executed in a progressive uncomplicated way with a commitment to sourcing fresh local seasonal produce. Dishes served here include poached salmon with steamed julienne vegetables and “Nam Pla” sauce; Risotto with fresh green beans, cherry tomatoes, black olives and kasseri cheese; Sautéed shrimp with dry martini and “louvana” local yellow lentil puree; and “Saganaki” with kefalotiri cheese, fig chutney, caramelized almonds, and “Anogyra’s” charon honey.
